Crystal Crypt Laser Blaster

My first serious attempt at prop construction, which is nearing completion, is a simple laser blaster. The structure is complete, but it still needs a paint job. Here is a picture of the unpainted gun, together with a Windex bottle for scaling reference.

The unpainted gun, which is just shorter than a Windex  bottle
The main structure is composed of PVC pipe, cardboard, and the top of a 409 bottle. Once I assembled these components in the manner I desired, I applied about 3 or 4 layers of wood filler, then smoothed the surface with spackling. I then added the spring and bottle caps for decoration.

I've had to place the project on hold due to other priorities, but I hope to show you the completed gun in the near future. Once I obtain the materials I need, as well as the time to work on the project, I will show you the final product.

UPDATE #1: Since taking the picture above and beginning this post, I've added a simple trigger! Also, I do not plan to wire this project with lights or other electronics.

UPDATE #2: I have modified the trigger and removed the decorative spring. I still don't have access to spraypaint for the final step, but I might be able to make do with acrylic paints.

UPDATE #3: I had a bit of a brainwave and discovered a way to wire the pistol after all. However, in order to do it, I had to dismantle the thing. We'll see how it goes, I guess...

UPDATE #4: Wiring the pistol is a bust. The mini flashlight I had planned to use still looks good for aesthetics, so I'll keep that. I've also taken the squeeze trigger from an old spray bottle top and adapted it to serve as the third attempt at a trigger for this thing. It's coming back together.....

UPDATE #5: I've reassembled the gun and statted back on the wood filler. Just one more application (and maybe some spackling), a bit of sanding, and it'll be ready for painting!
